We were appointed to the Design Team for this exciting scheme to redevelop the north-western parts of the Westminster Industrial Estate near Charlton in the Royal Borough of Greenwich (RBG), London.

The existing site consists largely of derelict industrial buildings which have fallen into disrepair. The proposed scheme will demolish many of the existing buildings with the exception of 37 Bowater Road and Unity House, to provide a mix of residential, office and light industrial uses on the site.

The site will be one of the first to come forward in the Charlton Riverside Opportunity Area.

It represents a significant opportunity to regenerate a brownfield site to provide 374 new homes and hundreds of new jobs.

The architectural design of the scheme will seek to respond to and respect the former industrial heritage of the site – once home to the Siemens Brothers factory which was in operation on the site for over 100 years manufacturing state-of-the-art cables, before diversifying into telephones, measuring apparatus, electric lamps and bulbs.

Working with the Design Team, we provided advice in relation to various transport and highway matters such as vehicle tracking, car and cycle parking provision, servicing management, and vehicular circulation, as well as in relation to drainage matters such as attenuation SuDS features, runoff calculations, flood resilient construction measures, and a foul water drainage strategy.
