The Kingston Maurward College Estate, Dorchester is proposed to receive a sustainable package of enhancements during the course of the next 10 years in response to the increasing demand for student college places.

Kingston Maurward College (KMC) has devised a Ten-Year Masterplan (2021-2031), which outlines the College’s aspirations to improve and enlarge the existing agricultural and educational infrastructure available to students and visitors, while also providing a number of residential dwellings within both the wider Estate and the village of Stinsford.

It is intended that the Ten-Year Masterplan will be adopted within the emerging Dorset Council Local Plan, which will help to establish the College as an arterial component of the local community and economy.

Working with KMC and the Design Team, we provided a Transport Assessment which evaluated the highway and transportation impacts of the various proposals contained within the Ten-Year Masterplan.

We also provided a Travel Plan, which emphasised the College’s desire to limit the impact of the proposals on the local highway network and the environment through encouraging the use of sustainable modes of travel by future students, staff and visitors alike.

We liaised directly with KMC to agree a site-wide transport strategy and subsequent package of measures that could be implemented to encourage the use of sustainable modes of transport.  We also organised a bespoke Travel Survey to be undertaken of all staff and students at the College to inform the Travel Plan and the subsequent mode share baseline and targets.
